Charitable Recycling Australia has developed a bespoke version of the Waste Hierarchy, designed to encourage Highest and Best Use by reinforcing the differences between waste and resources.
We’ve changed its title from the ‘Waste Hierarchy’ to the ‘Resource and Waste Hierarchy’ as a contemporary upgrade to highlight the priority on ‘Use’ phases before ‘Waste’ phases.
It also includes some short form descriptions to clarify understanding – and encourage implementation of Highest and Best Use.
The ‘Resource and Waste Hierarchy’ serves as a reminder for everyone to fully embrace and implement the hierarchy of ‘Highest and Best Use’ at all times – including ‘Reuse’ and ‘Repair’ which sit right at the top after ‘Reduce’.
Please share this with all stakeholders committed to Highest and Best Use.
